Volunteer with us
Become a member of our faculty
Our faculty are at the heart of advancing surgical education. They teach courses and give feedback to develop and update our education offerings.
Help us develop a new course
The learning team is developing a course, which introduces the use of immersive technology for simulation training. The course will be free for faculty and will give them the chance to experience using an immersive room and leading a debrief.
We are looking for volunteers to help us draft short scenarios, which may include aspects of leadership and human factors. If you are interested in being involved, please contact Timothy Lowe, Learning Innovation Manager, at tlowe@rcseng.ac.uk for more information.
Faculty of Dental Surgery (FDS) roles
Become part of the FDS by applying for one of our regional director roles. This includes the Regional Director for the South of England and the Regional Director for the Midlands and East of England. As a regional director you will lead on regional initiatives and represent the faculty in your area.
We also have a vacancy for a Specialty Advisor in Orthodontics. As an advisor, you will use your specialty-specific advice to support your regional committee and be an integral part of the FDS.

Become a country advisor
Country advisors are important College representatives and act as key contact points for overseas members and stakeholders. Specialty Clinical Lead – International Surgical Training Programme (ISTP)
ISTP is a clinical fellowship programme that provides international medical graduates with an opportunity to undertake targeted specialty and subspecialty training in the UK for a defined period. Specialty Clinical Leads help shape ISTP, interview, and provide guidance to programme fellows. If you are interested in becoming a Specialty Clinical Lead, email global@rcseng.ac.uk
UK-Yemen Surgical and Trauma Care Mentorship Scheme
The College is working with the Yemeni Society of Surgeons to pilot a remote mentoring scheme, matching UK surgeons with junior surgeons and residents in Yemen. We are recruiting UK mentors for this scheme and if you want to participate, fill in the sign up form. If you have any questions email humanitarian@rcseng.ac.uk
Join our humanitarian surgery volunteer database
The College is working with partners to establish a database of volunteers with experience working in and responding to humanitarian crises. This experience could involve remote training and mentorship and/or participating in international missions to deliver surgical care in conflict or natural disaster settings. Women in Surgery (WinS) is a national initiative dedicated to encouraging, enabling and inspiring women to fulfil their surgical career ambitions. We have over 6,000 women in our network and a Forum of elected members working on key projects throughout the year. Find out more about this work.

Are you about to become a Foundation Year 1 doctor? We are recruiting FY1 representatives to join our Future Surgeons Forum. As a representative, you will work with the College and surgical society presidents across the UK to promote surgery as a career path for medical students. Get involved locally
Become a surgical tutor or a regional representative and act as a local representative for members in your area. Becoming a surgical tutor includes supporting all aspects of surgical training and education within trusts, local health boards (LHBs) and hospitals. Find out more about RCS England Outreach.
